chickies

Rodriguez, the rooster, now has chickies all over Wellington. If you’d like to raise some of your own, you’ll need some tips for raising chicks and a broody hen. I sell fertile chicken eggs and my neighbour has turkey chicks for sale.  Please email me if you are interested in either.

We had a beautiful day for the Ohariu Valley garden ramble and it was lovely to meet so many people, particularly the winners of the draw for tickets. I hope everyone who bought tomato plants has managed to get them out this week. I’ve supported mine with bamboo canes and started to pinch out side shoots regularly. The bottomless pots protection proved a talking point for visitors on Sunday and has proved a life-saver for many plants. The chocolate scented tunnel house was also a popular place to visit.

The next fresh food garden course is on Saturday 20 November 2010. You could make it an early Christmas gift for that difficult-to-buy-for person.

I’ve very much enjoyed reading Notes from an Exhibition by Patrick Gale. The first time I’d read his work. If you’re a fellow fabricoholic I’ll see you at the Plunket fabric auction in Newtown on Sunday evening. My passion for sewing has been re-kindled courtesy of a wonderful sewing class at The Fashion Workshop in Wellington.
